Joanna Carichner L.M.T., C.Y.T.
Joanna is an intuitive bodyworker movement educator. She began her training in 1997 at the World School of Massage and Advanced Holistic Healing Arts in San Francisco where she became a Holistic Massage Therapist and Holistic Health Counselor. She continued training at the Breema Center in Oakland, the Providence Institute, and ASIS in Tucson. She is trained in several modalities including Vibrational Healing Massage Therapy, Vibrational Energywork, Pain Neutralization Technique, Breema Bodywork, Zen Shiatsu, Muscle Release Technique, Craniosacral Therapy, MyoFascial Release, and Swedish Massage.
In her one-on-one healing work, she loves supporting other healers and service-oriented people to feel whole and empowered so they can best serve their communities. Joanna has practiced yoga since 1993 and has embraced various approaches including Iyengar, Vinyasa, Shivananda, Kripalu, Yin, and Restorative. She was first inspired to share her expressive and mindful approach to yoga during a four-month residency at the Kripalu Center in 2003-04. She has taught Yoga since 2006 and completed a 200-hour training with Modern Mystic Yoga Academy, trained in Yin Yoga with Michelle Marks and Joe Barnett, Pelvic Floor Yoga with Leslie Howard, and Anatomy for Yoga with Paul Grilley and Joe Barnett. While at Kripalu, she met Toni Bergins and later studied Journey Dance with her. She is now a Certified Journey Dance Facilitator and has led several hundred dances over the years. Bringing dance to people who believe they cannot dance is her greatest joy. Joanna believes yoga and dance can be enjoyed by people of all shapes, sizes, and abilities, and her passion is empowering her students to embody their natural expression and create their practices through inner experience rather than outward aesthetics.
She is also an Advanced Trainer in the Nurtured Heart Approach, a powerful tool, created by Howard Glasser, for bringing out the greatness in people.
