Description
Every nervous system speaks its own language. Neurodivergent clients—including individuals with autism, ADHD, sensory processing differences, Tourette syndrome, dyslexia, and other neurological variations—may experience touch, sound, communication, and body awareness in ways that are heightened, sensitive, or uniquely patterned.
Traditional massage approaches don’t always account for these differences. When sensory needs, communication styles, or nervous system regulation are overlooked, it can unintentionally create barriers to trust, safety, comfort, and therapeutic outcomes.
Massage for Neurodivergent Clients is a specialized continuing education course designed to empower massage therapists with the knowledge, sensitivity, and practical skills needed to serve neurodiverse populations confidently. Through a supportive blend of lecture, discussion, and hands-on practice, participants will gain tools to create sessions that feel more accessible, collaborative, and effective—without losing the integrity of clinical touch.
This course emphasizes a client-centered approach rooted in autonomy, informed consent, and emotional safety. Therapists will learn how to adapt technique, modify the treatment environment, and create individualized session plans that support each client’s sensory and neurological needs.
What You’ll Learn
Participants will explore:
-
The foundations of neurodiversity and how it relates to bodywork
