Becki Garza is a practicing herbalist in Tucson, AZ, and owner of La Yerberia Botanicals, offering custom herbal formulations to health care providers, massage therapists, and spas. Originally from the South Texas-Mexico border, she began her herbal studies when a college internship landed her on a wildlife refuge collecting and cataloging Sonoran Desert plants for an herbarium. Before devoting herself full-time to herbalism, Becki worked as a high school biology teacher and prior to that at an environmental education center. In 2004 her class received a grant from The American Folklife Center at the Library of Congress to interview Tohono O'odham elders and youth about their uses of Creosote Bush (Larrea tridentata).
